St. John presented an alluring collection for Spring 2012 on Friday, September 9th, 2011, during New York Fashion Week. Set amidst a background of platinum shades and shimmering metallics, the luxuriously modern interior of the newly renovated Fifth Avenue St. John Boutique tied in perfectly with the neutral Spring color palette of cream, platinums and a whisper of pale cosmetic colors. Inspired by renowned singer/songwriter Carly Simon, Creative Director George Sharp pulled together a collection of pieces that epitomize the free spirit that is American glamour. Long and lean looks including sheath dresses, trapeze shapes, and caftans with relaxed elegant silhouettes that wrap and drape the body showing a hint of skin. Luxe fabrics with sueded finishes, subtle silvery shimmers of sequins and feathers. The ever so stylish model turned singer, Karen Elson told George Sharp that the cream long knit gown modeled on Caroline Winberg was "the sexiest dress I've ever seen, even though it doesn't show an inch of skin." VIP's in the fashion world included W Magazine's Editor-In-Chief Stefano Tonchi, Harper's Bazaar Editor-In-Chief Glenda Bailey, Vogue Editor Virginia Smith and InStyle Fashion Director's Hal Rubenstein and Cindy Weber-Cleary.
